Coop launches 'Members' Favorite' prize for Danish food producers

Coop amba announced a new honor prize called “Medlemmernes favorit” (Members' Favorite) to highlight Danish food producers. Twenty‑one producers, including Thise, Axel Månsson, Dueholm, Bornholmergrisen and Aabybro Mejeri, have been nominated – three from each of the seven Danish regions.

Coop’s two‑million members will first vote for a regional winner between 10 – 30 August. The seven regional winners will then compete in a national poll from 21 September to 18 October, with the overall winner announced on 26 October and given a marketing boost.

The initiative, presented by Coop’s CEO Anette Jorn, follows a recent member survey in which 60 000 participants chose the promotion of Danish and local foods as a priority. Coop says the prize will increase visibility for local producers, adding to its existing 20 000 locally sourced items across 400 stores.
