Coop Lombardia showcases regional producers in Milan
Coop Lombardia has launched ‘La Lombardia di Coop’, an initiative held at Milan’s Castello Sforzesco to highlight the cooperative's relationship with regional producers. The event features 22 selected agri-food and wine producers from the Lombardy region.
Alfredo De Bellis, president of Coop Lombardia, emphasized that the cooperative system maintains vital production hubs and jobs in the region. He noted that the Consorzio Nord Ovest, which handles purchasing for cooperatives in Lombardy, Piedmont, and Liguria, purchased approximately 740 million euros worth of goods from Lombardy producers last year. On a broader scale, Coop Italia purchases roughly 2.4 billion euros from Lombardy-based producers.
The project aims to demonstrate that the cooperative's role extends beyond commercial presence to include supporting local supply chains, fostering social initiatives in schools and culture, and generating significant economic value that is exported throughout Italy.
