Cooperativa Chortitzer drives Chaco industrialization and exports
Paraguayan Minister of Industry and Commerce, Marco Riquelme, visited the facilities of Cooperativa Chortitzer in Loma Plata, Boquerón, to highlight the cooperative model's role in the economic and social development of the Chaco region.
A central focus of the visit was the cooperative's meat processing plant, which has a slaughter capacity of 1,200 head of cattle per day and currently exports products to more than 20 countries. The facility has returned to full operational capacity following recent reconstruction efforts after a fire affected its installations.
Cooperativa Chortitzer currently maintains 8,500 members and 3,500 employees. The cooperative's president, Ronald Reimer, noted that the model integrates producers, generates employment, and provides technical and financial assistance to promote regional sustainable development. The plant also utilizes a sustainable approach, operating with 100% rainwater collection for its processes.
