Cooperativa Eléctrica de Saladillo updates contingency plan for El Niño

The Cooperativa Eléctrica de Saladillo (CES) has updated its contingency plan in response to the El Niño phenomenon. The climate pattern is expected to bring above-normal rainfall and varying storm intensities to the Pampean region.

The updated plan includes preventive and operational protocols designed to ensure the continuity and safety of electrical services during severe weather. Key measures include preventive maintenance of lines and substations, scheduled tree pruning, reinforced emergency shifts, and specialized emergency equipment. The cooperative is also maintaining permanent coordination with Civil Defense, firefighters, the local municipality, and other intermediate entities in Saladillo.

To support long-term planning, the CES commissioned scientific studies in 2021 regarding storm behavior in the Saladillo district over recent decades. These studies analyze frequency, intensity, and seasonality to inform decisions regarding infrastructure, investment, and risk prevention.
