Cooperativa Popular de Electricidad reports 1.8% growth in energy demand

The Cooperativa Popular de Electricidad (CPE) reported a 1.8% increase in energy purchases from the Administración Provincial de Energía (APE) during its 94th economic and social exercise. Total energy purchased reached 347 million kWh, reversing a decline seen in the previous 2024-2025 period.

Despite this growth, the cooperative noted that energy flow remains significantly below historical growth rates, which averaged 4.7% annually between 2002 and 2015. Distributed energy, which includes billed electricity, public lighting, and internal cooperative consumption, rose by 2.1% to 318 million kWh, though this remains slightly lower than the 319 million kWh distributed during the 2022/2023 period.

Regarding peak demand, the maximum power required in the Santa Rosa-Toay system reached 102.7 MVA during the current period, failing to surpass the historical record of 105.2 MVA set on January 13, 2022.
