Cooprofar invests €15 million to expand Alcochete logistics platform
The pharmaceutical cooperative Cooprofar has invested €15 million to expand its logistics platform in Alcochete, Portugal. The expansion adds 6,500 square meters of useful area, strengthening the storage and distribution capacity for medicines.
The new infrastructure incorporates automation and robotics solutions designed to increase operational efficiency and optimize stock management. The facility is prepared for a future capacity of up to 13,500 pallets to meet the growing demands of the pharmaceutical supply chain.
This investment follows a period of growth for the group, which reported a turnover of €544 million in 2025, a 13% increase from the previous year. This growth rate exceeded the overall pharmaceutical market growth of 9.7%, allowing Cooprofar to reach a 13.9% market share. Founded in 1975, the cooperative supplies over 1,100 pharmacies and employs more than 300 direct workers.
