Coordinare launches Peer Academy for mental health careers

The South Eastern NSW Primary Health Network, known as Coordinare, has launched the Peer Academy to assist young people in entering the mental health workforce. Designed for individuals aged 18 to 30, the program targets those with lived experience of mental health challenges, alcohol and drug use, or suicidality.

The academy offers a flexible alternative to traditional education through mentoring, practical work experience, and nationally recognised micro-credentials. The initiative aims to address barriers such as managing health appointments and caring responsibilities while meeting the increasing demand for peer workers in the sector.
