Ilhan Omar’s residence searched by federal agents in criminal probe

Federal agents from Homeland Security Investigations executed a judicially authorized search warrant at the Washington, D.C. residence of Democratic Representative Ilhan Omar. The Department of Justice confirmed the raid is part of an ongoing federal criminal investigation.

Reports indicate the probe is centered on potential fraud involving immigration paperwork submitted by Omar’s late father during her childhood. Authorities have reportedly seized Omar’s phone and issued more than a dozen grand jury subpoenas, some of which were directed at her relatives.

The search occurred approximately three weeks before the November midterm elections. Representative Omar and several Democratic leaders, including Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, have condemned the action, characterizing it as an attempt to weaponize federal law enforcement for political intimidation against a prominent critic of President Donald Trump.
