Coosalud EPS to return to private owners following government intervention
The Administrative Tribunal of Bolívar has ordered the end of the forced administrative intervention of the health provider Coosalud EPS, directing its return to owners Jaime González Montaño and Natalia Largo González. The decision follows two years of government control under the administration of Gustavo Petro.
Magistrate Luis Miguel Villalobos based the ruling on reports from the Attorney General's Office, the Comptroller General, and the Ombudsman's Office. These documents suggested that the intervention had failed to resolve financial, administrative, and service-related issues, noting an increase in complaints, legal actions, and difficulties in medicine delivery.
In the department of Boyacá, Coosalud has announced the reactivation of medical services across seven institutions, including the ESE Hospital Regional de Chiquinquirá. This move aims to restore care for approximately 118,000 affiliates following previous budget-related suspensions. The reactivation includes hospital services, diagnostic aids, visual health, and dentistry, alongside the new availability of hemodialysis services in Chiquinquirá.
