Copa Airlines and Emirates boost in‑flight connectivity with Starlink Wi‑Fi deployments

Copa Airlines announced that it will equip its Boeing 737 fleet with SpaceX’s Starlink satellite‑based Wi‑Fi system, becoming the first airline in Latin America to offer the service. The rollout will allow passengers on routes across North, Central and South America to access high‑speed internet for browsing, email, video calls and streaming.

Emirates reported that 36 of its aircraft – 33 Boeing 777s and three Airbus A380s – already feature Starlink Wi‑Fi, covering more than 15% of its 232‑aircraft fleet. The airline expects to complete installation across the fleet by mid‑2027. So far, more than 60 daily flights have the service, with passengers having consumed over one petabyte of data.

Both airlines highlighted the advantages of Starlink’s low‑orbit satellite constellation, which offers lower latency, higher speeds and broader coverage than traditional satellite internet systems, improving the passenger experience on long‑haul and regional flights.
