Copa Airlines evaluates direct flight route to French Guiana

Copa Airlines is studying the feasibility of establishing a direct aerial connection between French Guiana and its hub in Panama. Gabriel Varela, the airline's director of planning and alliances, met with the French Guiana Territorial Collectivity and the Tourism Committee to discuss the potential route.

A decision from the Panamanian carrier is expected by the end of November, with a possible service launch targeted for June 2027. The initiative aims to improve connectivity, potentially opening French Guiana to North, Central, and South American markets via Panama's extensive network.

This development follows plans by Air France to launch a connection between Pointe-à-Pitre and Panama City in December 2026. Such routes could allow travelers from Cayenne to reach Panama through Guadeloupe, utilizing Copa Airlines for onward connections across the Americas.
