Universidad de Chile tops group, joins Iquique and others in Copa Chile round of 16

Universidad de Chile clinched first place in Group D of the 2026 Copa Chile, defeating Unión San Felipe 1‑0 at the Nicolás Chahuán stadium. Coach Fernando Gago rotated his squad and dealt with a late‑game injury to midfielder Israel Poblete. The win guarantees the club a spot in the round of 16 and avoids a possible clash with Universidad Católica.

In Group A, Deportes Iquique secured second place with a 3‑1 victory over Deportes Limache at the Tierra de Campeones, advancing alongside group‑winners Coquimbo Unido. Iquique will meet Deportes Antofagasta in the next knockout round. Union La Calera and Curicó Unido also qualified from Group D and Group F respectively, completing the list of clubs moving on to the octavos de final.
