Copacabana Palace reopens iconic pool with ocean-inspired design

The Copacabana Palace in Rio de Janeiro has reopened its iconic swimming pool following a four-month renovation. Designed by architect Ivan Rezende, the new aesthetic moves away from traditional geometric lines in favor of organic curves inspired by the movement of the ocean.

The pool features Italian glass tiles in ocean-inspired tones, with design elements referencing classic mosaics by artists Paulo Werneck and Candido Portinari. Despite the visual overhaul, the water temperature remains maintained at 28°C.

Socialite Narcisa Tamborindeguy was among the first to celebrate the reopening. The renovation is part of a larger project involving the hotel’s Annex Building, which is scheduled to reopen next month under the new name ‘Edifício Piscina’.
