Copacabana Palace to launch new restaurant LUMIO in 2026

The Copacabana Palace, a Belmond hotel in Rio de Janeiro, has announced the opening of LUMIO, a new restaurant scheduled for November 2026. Located in the Edifício Piscina, the establishment will be led by chef Nello Cassese.

LUMIO will offer an intimate tasting menu experience with only 38 seats available per night, following Belmond’s ‘slow luxury’ concept. The culinary direction aims to bridge Southern Italian traditions with Brazilian ingredients and cultural influences, drawing parallels between the coastal identities of Rio de Janeiro and Naples.

Chef Nello Cassese has been with the Copacabana Palace since 2016, previously leading the Ristorante Hotel Cipriani to a Michelin star and recognition in the Latin America’s 50 Best Restaurants list. LUMIO will join the hotel’s existing gastronomic venues, including Bar do Copa, MEE, and Pérgula.
