Copasa and Médio Piracicaba mayors discuss new sanitation model
Mayors from the Médio Rio Piracicaba microregion met with representatives from the Companhia de Saneamento de Minas Gerais (Copasa) to discuss a new contractual model for sanitation services. The meeting, organized by the Association of Municipalities of the Médio Rio Piracicaba (Amepi), aimed to clarify the terms of a proposed municipal block for service adhesion.
During the session, which included Copasa's CEO Marília Carvalho de Melo, local leaders addressed technical, legal, operational, financial, and regulatory aspects of the new proposal. Discussions focused on the specific obligations of both the municipalities and the sanitation company, as well as the rules for joining the collective block.
Augusto Henrique, the mayor of Rio Piracicaba and president of Amepi, emphasized the need for transparency and direct dialogue. He stated that the association seeks to ensure municipal managers have clear information and security before making decisions regarding essential services like water supply and sewage treatment.
