Medical experts highlight advancements in COPD and integrative oncology
Medical experts are highlighting new approaches to chronic disease management and patient quality of life. At the Society of Italian Pulmonology congress in Rome, Professor Alberto Papi of the University of Ferrara emphasized that the therapeutic goal for COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) should be zero exacerbations. He noted that even a single episode can negatively impact long-term survival and urged early intervention and personalized treatments, including biological drugs and vaccinations, to reduce mortality.
In the field of oncology, the Associazione Onconauti presented findings at the Society for Integrative Oncology congress in Detroit. Their data shows that up to 96% of cancer patients reported improved quality of life after three months of integrated therapies. This model, developed in Bologna, combines traditional oncological treatments with clinical nutrition, adapted physical exercise, and psychological support to reduce fatigue, anxiety, and pain.
