Copec to double Juan Valdez stores in Chile
Following Copec’s acquisition of the Chilean franchise of Juan Valdez in March 2026, the company plans to double its retail network. Copec currently holds a 70% stake in Procafecol Chile, while the Colombian parent company, Procafecol Colombia, retains the remaining 30%.
María José Gaete has returned as General Manager of Juan Valdez Chile. Gaete, a civil engineer, previously led the brand between 2018 and 2023 during its ownership by Falabella. She also played a role in the acquisition process as a project manager for Copec Retail.
The expansion strategy focuses on leveraging Copec’s extensive infrastructure, specifically the Pronto Copec convenience store network, which includes nearly 500 locations across Chile. While approximately 370 of these sites already sell the brand in the central-south region, the company aims to complete a rollout to the north by November of this year. The move is part of Copec’s broader strategy to strengthen its food and convenience offerings.
