COPEI initiates candidate selection process for municipal elections

The Venezuelan political party COPEI has initiated a consultation and selection process for its upcoming candidacies. National General Secretary Juan Carlos Alvarado announced that the organization is preparing for next year's municipal elections for mayors and councilors.

In the state of Táchira, the party will implement a 180-day internal process to transparently define nominations for the governorship and 29 mayoralties. Alvarado emphasized that decisions will not be centralized in Caracas, noting that no current officeholder receives automatic endorsement without evaluation by the party's base.
