Copenhagen Airport faces security chaos and long queues
Copenhagen Airport (Kastrup) is experiencing significant delays and massive queues at security checkpoints following an inspection by the Danish Transport Authority (Trafikstyrelsen). The inspection led to the immediate implementation of stricter, more time-consuming security procedures, including increased manual checks and more extensive scanning of hand luggage.
The resulting congestion has caused hundreds of passengers to miss flights, with airlines such as SAS and Norwegian reporting significant disruptions. While official airport displays have sometimes underestimated wait times, travelers have reported queues lasting up to 90 minutes.
Airport management has deployed extra staff to manage the situation, but officials indicate that these enhanced procedures may continue through the weekend and potentially into next week. Travelers are strongly advised to arrive at least two hours before Schengen flights and three hours before non-Schengen departures to mitigate the risk of missing connections.
