Copenhagen Airport records busiest September ever
Copenhagen Airport reported its busiest September on record, with 3.2 million passengers passing through the facility. This represents a 4 percent increase compared to the same month last year.
Chief Commercial Officer Peter Krogsgaard noted that the high travel season appears to be extending beyond the traditional summer holidays. He attributed the surge to Copenhagen’s role as a major transit hub and increased travel demand from Denmark and southern Sweden for European city breaks and trips to the United States.
The most popular destinations from Copenhagen last month included Norway, Spain, and the United Kingdom. Regarding transatlantic travel, there was an 8 percent increase in routes between Copenhagen and the US, with 140,000 passengers utilizing direct flights. Copenhagen remains the only Danish airport offering direct service to the US, with SAS, Delta, and American Airlines operating 12 routes to cities including New York, San Francisco, Boston, and Chicago.
