Copenhagen apartment sales drop 36 percent amid market slowdown
The Danish apartment market is experiencing a significant slowdown, particularly in Copenhagen. Data from Boligsiden indicates that apartment sales in Copenhagen Municipality fell to 390 units in August, a 36 percent decrease compared to August last year. This represents the third-lowest August sales volume since 2011.
Market analysts note a shift in momentum, with prices in Copenhagen also trending downward over the past month. In Aarhus, apartment sales also saw a decline of 23 percent compared to the previous year, though experts suggest this is partly due to an unusually high volume of transactions in August 2023.
Industry experts attribute the cooling market primarily to changes in the interest rate environment, which has increased the cost of credit and impacted buyer demand.
