Amir Mehran convicted of 2017 Amager basement rape

Amir Mehran, a 43-year-old man from North Jutland, has been found guilty by the Copenhagen City Court for a particularly violent rape committed in August 2017. The victim, a young woman, was attacked in a basement on Røsågade in Amager while returning from a night out. The assault involved physical violence, threats to her life, and strangulation.

The case remained unsolved for years until a breakthrough occurred last year when Mehran was detained in an unrelated matter. A routine DNA swab taken during that investigation provided a match with DNA evidence recovered from the victim's body and clothing in 2017.

Mehran was sentenced to four years in prison. The court noted that the victim and the perpetrator were strangers at the time of the incident.
