Copenhagen Municipality terminates contract with DAO
Copenhagen Municipality has decided to terminate its partnership with the mail distribution company Dansk Avis Omdeling (DAO) at the end of August. This decision comes only six months after DAO took over national mail distribution from PostNord.
The municipality cited DAO's inability to fully comply with labor clauses and ESG requirements, which are intended to guarantee proper wages and working conditions throughout the entire supply chain. Copenhagen's Lord Mayor, Sisse-Marie Welling, is notifying the Minister for Transport, Signe Munk, regarding the challenges of ensuring these standards within the postal sector.
The sudden break leaves the future of mail delivery in the capital uncertain. As no permanent replacement has been established, individual municipal departments will be responsible for finding alternative providers for their mailings in the interim. DAO has previously faced criticism regarding service reliability, including reports of significant delays and lost mail.
