Copenhagen Ranked World's Most Livable City in 2026 Index
Copenhagen, Denmark, has been named the most livable city in the world for the second consecutive year by the Economist Intelligence Unit's Global Liveability Index 2026. The ranking evaluated 173 cities across factors such as stability, healthcare, culture, environment, education and infrastructure.
The list places Vienna, Melbourne, Sydney and Zurich in the next four positions, underscoring the strong performance of European and Australian cities. The report highlights Copenhagen’s modern infrastructure, quiet urban life and close connection to nature, noting that residents can commute by bike, swim in urban waters and enjoy extensive public spaces. Residents such as medical student Laura Amira Kassem praise the city’s mix of diverse neighborhoods, cultural venues and artistic scene.
