Copenhagen ranked world's most liveable city for 2025

Copenhagen has been ranked as the world's most liveable city for 2025 by the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) Global Liveability Index. This achievement comes despite the city facing significant environmental challenges, including extreme heat, drought, and heavy rainfall.

Following massive flood damage in 2011, the city implemented the Cloudburst Management Plan. This collaborative strategy involves urban planners, architects, and engineers to transform streets, parks, and public squares into multifunctional, climate-resilient spaces. These areas are designed to absorb or redirect stormwater during heavy rain while remaining usable for recreation during normal weather.

Since 2011, the city has initiated approximately 300 projects, utilizing both nature-based and technical measures to manage water and enhance urban quality of life.
