Copenhagen street musician ‘Sanger Søren’ dies at 53
The well-known Copenhagen street musician ‘Sanger Søren’ has passed away at the age of 53. For decades, he was a fixture of the Strøget pedestrian street, where his singing became a recognizable part of the city's soundscape.
Denmark's Prime Minister, Mette Frederiksen, paid tribute to him on social media, noting that his voice often reached people before they even saw him. She highlighted his presence in the city, stating, “He did not own much. Yet he gave Copenhagen something few others could.”
Representatives from the local shelter Gang i Gaden, where Søren visited almost daily for the past five to six years, confirmed his death. Staff described him as a “fantastic human being” who spread joy to those around him.
