Copenhagen tops 2026 Global Liveability Index

Copenhagen has been ranked the most livable city in the world for 2026 by the Economist Intelligence Unit’s Global Liveability Index, securing the top spot for the second consecutive year. The index evaluated 173 cities on 30 factors across health care, culture and environment, education, infrastructure and stability, and Copenhagen earned perfect scores in stability, infrastructure and education. The city’s high marks are attributed to its sustainable urban planning, extensive cycling infrastructure, accessible public transport and abundant green public spaces.

Vienna and Melbourne placed second and third respectively, while other cities in the top ten include Sydney, Zurich, Geneva, Osaka, Adelaide, Vancouver and Tokyo. The ranking is widely used by businesses and individuals to compare living conditions worldwide.
