Coppa Nissena racing accident injures three in Caltanissetta

Three people were lightly injured during the Coppa Nissena automobile race in Caltanissetta. The incident occurred when 22-year-old driver Kadija Mourtaji lost control of her vehicle after exiting the final curve. According to Mourtaji, the rear of the car clipped a rail, making it impossible to regain control at high speed. The vehicle subsequently struck a lateral structure of the finish line portal.

The impact caused debris to strike three bystanders: two timekeepers and one race official. The timekeepers sustained a facial trauma and a left ankle contusion, respectively, while the official suffered a finger injury. All three individuals were treated by emergency medical personnel on-site and transported to Sant'Elia Hospital in Caltanissetta under ‘green code’ status, indicating their conditions are not serious.

Mourtaji was treated at the scene and reported being uninjured. Following the crash, she expressed her regret and apologized to those involved.
