Copparo commemorates Cinzia Fusi on seventh anniversary of her death

The community of Copparo is marking the seventh anniversary of the death of Cinzia Fusi, a 34-year-old woman killed by her former partner on August 24, 2019. The murder occurred during a dispute fueled by jealousy at a shop garage where both worked.

The perpetrator received a life sentence, marking one of the first sentences in the Emilia-Romagna region following the implementation of the ‘Codice Rosso’ (Red Code) legislation, which includes aggravating factors for crimes committed within affective relationships.

Mayor Fabrizio Pagnoni expressed the community's ongoing grief and anger, calling for concrete action to build a more just society. He emphasized the need for increased efforts in schools, social services, and culture to prevent further violence, noting that several women had already been killed by partners since mid-August.
