COPRISCAM intensifies surveillance against counterfeit medicines

The Commission for the Protection against Sanitary Risks (COPRISCAM) has intensified sanitary surveillance in Mexico to combat the sale of falsified and adulterated medicines. This action follows health alerts issued by the Federal Commission for the Protection against Sanitary Risks (COFEPRIS) regarding concerns over the quality, safety, and authenticity of certain medications.

COPRISCAM has conducted 12 verification visits across the municipalities of Campeche, Carmen, and Escárcega. The agency is also scheduling additional supervision of pharmaceutical establishments and hospital services, with a specific focus on specialized medications to ensure patient safety.

Authorities recommend that citizens purchase medications only from formally established businesses, verify packaging conditions, and avoid buying products from unknown sources.
