Coptic Pope Tawadros II presents “Law of Uprightness” at Wadi El Natroun monastery

Pope Tawadros II, the Coptic Pope of Alexandria, delivered his weekly address on Wednesday evening at the Church of Faith within the St. Mark Coptic Academy at the Monastery of St. Anba Bishoy in Wadi El Natroun, Egypt. The sermon formed part of his series on “Spiritual Laws for Life” and focused on the “Law of Uprightness,” describing three dimensions—uprightness with oneself, before God, and in relations with others. He warned against extremism, pride and hypocrisy, urging believers to pursue a steady, humble heart.

The gathering also included clergy from Gulf‑region churches who are holding their annual conference at the same venue. Pope Tawadros II spoke on Psalm 91, highlighting four essential practices: prayer, living by God’s word, participation in the Eucharist, and fostering a holy community within the family and church. He led a tour of the academy’s facilities, visited its museum and the “Raised Hands” hall, and presided over the inauguration of a newly restored church dedicated to 49 martyr saints, where relics were placed in a new reliquary.

The event underscored ongoing spiritual dialogue between the Coptic Orthodox Church and Gulf Christian communities, emphasizing shared values and the importance of interior holiness.
