Coquimbo leaders demand employment and Dominga project progress

Social, guild, and fishing leaders from the Coquimbo Region traveled to Santiago to demand government action regarding regional employment and the Dominga project. Representatives delivered letters to La Moneda and various ministries, calling for the fulfillment of commitments to create better job opportunities in the regions.

In La Higuera, leaders highlighted that high unemployment rates, exceeding 9%, are forcing young people to migrate to other cities. They specifically urged the Committee of Ministers to expedite the resolution of pending resources regarding the Dominga project, insisting that the process should proceed according to current law rather than seeking special favors.

Additionally, the Federation of Artisanal Fishermen of the La Higuera Coast accused the Environmental Evaluation Service (SEA) of obstructing the processing of invalidation requests for the project. They claim the SEA has failed to lift a suspension that was contingent upon the conclusion of Supreme Court cases, which ended on September 30.
