Regional governments in Latin America advance infrastructure and health projects

Various regional governments in Latin America are implementing infrastructure and social development projects. In the Dominican Republic, President Luis Abinader inaugurated the renovated Maternal and Child Hospital in San José de las Matas. The investment includes a new tomograph and ambulances to strengthen local healthcare and reduce the need for patient transfers to Santiago.

In Chile, several regional initiatives are underway. In Tarapacá, 278 community projects covering sports, culture, and security have been awarded over $5.495 billion. In Valparaíso, authorities are establishing a roadmap for a new cancer macro-center to address rising oncological demand. In La Araucanía, the government is moving forward with over $16 billion in sanitation projects for Nehuentúe. Meanwhile, regional leaders in Coquimbo and Los Lagos are advocating for specific budgetary allocations in the 2027 budget to support post-flood reconstruction and increase regional administrative autonomy.
