Coquimbo Region implements agricultural damage assessment

Authorities in the Coquimbo Region of Chile are implementing the Silvo-Agricultural Impact Form (FAS) to assess damages caused by the climate emergency in July. The assessment process, which spans 15 communes, is scheduled to continue until August 24.

The survey is being conducted by the Regional Ministry of Agriculture alongside several agencies, including INDAP, CNR, SAG, and CONAF. The goal is to create a standardized and detailed registry of damage to crops, livestock, infrastructure, irrigation systems, and other productive resources.

Agriculture Seremi Vicente Cortés emphasized that this instrument is essential for accurately measuring the impact on the silvo-agricultural sector. This data will allow authorities to better target support and recovery measures for affected producers. Farmers are encouraged to cooperate with officials in the field or contact local municipal offices and INDAP agencies to ensure accurate reporting.
