Coquimbo region launches initiatives to drive economic recovery

The Coquimbo region in Chile is implementing several initiatives to drive economic and productive recovery following recent severe weather events and climate contingencies.

To strengthen the local innovation ecosystem, the organization Magical, in partnership with the Corporación Regional de Desarrollo Productivo (CRDP), Corfo Coquimbo, VentureChile, and the Red Mentores por Chile, has launched the ‘De Emprendedor a Mentor Coquimbo 2026’ program. This initiative features a six-module training route designed to prepare a new generation of mentors to support local entrepreneurs in areas such as strategic assessment, sustainability, and gender equity.

Additionally, the region will host the ‘Expo Región Estrella’ in Santiago from November 6 to 8, 2026, at Plaza Ñuñoa. This public-private alliance aims to promote Coquimbo’s tourism, agriculture, mining, and small-to-medium enterprises. The expo will feature over 40 exhibitors, including municipalities, cooperatives, and various industry guilds, seeking to convert regional resilience into new commercial opportunities and tourism growth for the 2026-2027 summer season.
