Coraasan implements water infrastructure upgrades in Santiago

The Santiago Water and Sewerage Corporation (Coraasan) has implemented several infrastructure improvements to enhance water services in the Santiago region. In San Francisco de Jacagua, the corporation installed a new high-power 85 HP pumping unit at the ‘Pozo de Chepe’. The new equipment, costing approximately two million pesos, has a capacity of 150 gallons per minute and can reach a height of 1,400 feet, aimed at restoring service to high-altitude sectors.

Additionally, Coraasan director Andrés Cueto highlighted a major planned expansion of the Cibao Central Aqueduct. Announced by President Luis Abinader, the project involves an investment of approximately RD$9,000 million. The expansion is expected to increase the aqueduct's capacity from 6.5 to 8 cubic meters per second. This development is intended to support urban and economic growth in Santiago, Licey al Medio, Puñal, and Tamboril, while also strengthening the supply to Espaillat province and the La Dura water treatment plant.
