Corato officials seek intervention for cemetery pigeon infestation

The Direzione Corato political group has filed a written inquiry with the Corato City Council to address the growing issue of pigeons and guano accumulation within the municipal cemetery. The group noted that the situation has worsened recently, posing risks to public hygiene through the potential spread of pathogens and parasites, as well as causing physical damage to marble surfaces and stone elements.

In their proposal, the group suggested adopting multi-year plans similar to those implemented by neighboring municipalities in coordination with regional authorities, ISPRA, and local health agencies (ASL). The inquiry is scheduled for discussion in the City Council within thirty days.
