Corbett Literature Festival explores forest stories and conservation
The inaugural Corbett Literature Festival is taking place in Ramnagar, Uttarakhand, bringing together a diverse group of writers, conservationists, scientists, photographers, forest officials, and folk artists. The three-day event focuses on stories emerging from forests and the welfare of the communities living near them.
Supported by the Uttarakhand Forest Department, Corbett Tiger Reserve, and Uttarakhand Tourism, the festival includes photo exhibitions, nature walks, and sessions on wildlife conservation. Opening sessions highlighted the contributions of Jim Corbett and featured folk music and stories from the forest frontline.
Uttarakhand Forest Minister Subodh Uniyal emphasized that forest and wildlife conservation must be integrated with improving the lives of local populations. Officials noted that the festival serves as a collective effort to strengthen the regional identity associated with the Himalayas and Corbett.
