Corcept Therapeutics stock surges 228% following Trump investment
Donald Trump’s investment in Corcept Therapeutics (NASDAQ: CORT) has seen a significant increase in value. Disclosed on March 4 when the stock was trading at approximately $35.69, the position—originally valued between $15,001 and $50,000—is now estimated to be worth between $49,000 and $164,000, following a stock surge of roughly 228% to $117.17 as of August 18.
Several factors contributed to the company’s growth. Corcept received support from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and resubmitted a New Drug Application for relacorilant, a treatment for Cushing’s syndrome. Additionally, the company reported positive clinical trial results at the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) annual meeting, showing a 35% reduction in death risk when using a specific combination therapy compared to nab-paclitaxel alone.
Market-wide developments also played a role. In late July, Trump announced that generic drugs imported into the United States would maintain a zero-percent tariff for two years, effective August 1, 2026, before scheduled increases. While Corcept is a domestic company, this policy announcement positively impacted the broader pharmaceutical sector.
