Corcovado National Park restores visitor capacity at Sirena Station

The Sirena Biological Station within Corcovado National Park has restored its daily visitor capacity as of September 17, 2026. This decision follows the fulfillment of sanitary requirements and orders issued by the Ministry of Health.

According to resolution SINAC-ACOSA-D-R-0106-2026, the authorized maximum capacity is 366 people per day. This quota is distributed among 105 overnight guests, 230 day visitors, 16 spaces for the Carate-Corcovado Integral Development Association, and 15 spaces for the Osa Conservation Area (ACOSA) administration.

The restoration of capacity was made possible through collaborative efforts between ACOSA, the Ministry of Environment and Energy (MINAE), local communities, and volunteers. Key to this achievement was the repair and restoration of the wastewater treatment plant (PTAR). This move is expected to support sustainable tourism and benefit local hotels, guides, and travel agencies.
