Cordless vacuum technology: Einhell launches new model and Shark undergoes testing

New developments and testing results in the cordless vacuum cleaner market highlight increased competition and specialized features.

German manufacturer Einhell has launched the TE-SV 18/270 Li BL-Solo, a versatile stick vacuum that can also function as a handheld model. The device features a brushless motor and is compatible with the Power X Change battery standard. It offers three different modes and a suction power of 270 mbar, which is approximately 27,000 Pascal. Additional features include an LED display for status updates and a floor nozzle with a 255-centimeter working width.

In comparative testing, the Shark PowerDetect Clean & Empty was evaluated against other high-end models, including those from Dyson. The Shark model features a ‘Detect’ mode that automatically increases suction power when dirt is identified, signaled by a color-changing LED light on the nozzle. While the device is noted for being somewhat heavy, its motorized floor nozzle and flexible piping assist with maneuverability and cleaning under furniture.
