Core Keeper to receive Riders of the Underground update in September

Fireshine Games and developer Pugstorm have announced a major free content update for the sandbox survival game Core Keeper, titled ‘Riders of the Underground’. The update is scheduled for release in late September 2026.

Key features of the update include new mountable animals enabled by a new ‘saddle’ item, allowing players to ride livestock for easier exploration. A new ‘Hookshot’ tool will also be introduced to help players traverse chasms and pits. Additionally, the update will add a new ‘Moss’ sub-biome located within the Forgotten Ruins, along with new pets, weapons, armor, and quality-of-life improvements. Balance adjustments are also planned for the mage and summoner skill trees.

This update marks the first part of a three-stage content initiative called ‘Road to the Maw’. Following this release, subsequent updates titled ‘Trials of the Depths’ and ‘Beyond the Breach’ are planned to further expand the game. Core Keeper, which has surpassed 6 million players, will feature playable demonstrations of the new content at the Tokyo Game Show.
