Core Scientific partners with AMD for AI data center capacity

Core Scientific has entered into a major infrastructure partnership with AMD to provide AI-ready data center capacity. The agreement aims to deliver over 500 megawatts of capacity starting in 2027, with the potential to scale up to 2.5 gigawatts. The collaboration involves deploying AMD technologies across Core Scientific facilities to create purpose-built environments for high-performance computing and AI workloads.

This partnership follows a period of significant strategic shifts for Core Scientific. The company, which previously focused on Bitcoin mining, has pivoted toward high-density colocation services to meet the power and cooling demands of AI model training and inference.

The deal also includes a warrant component, granting AMD the option to purchase Core Scientific common stock at market prices under specific commercial conditions. This development comes after Core Scientific shareholders rejected a $9 billion all-stock acquisition offer from CoreWeave in late 2025, a decision that analysts suggest may have been vindicated by the scale of the new AMD agreement.
