Core strength training through Pilates and balance boards
Various methods exist to improve core strength and stability through different fitness modalities. Pilates offers alternatives to the traditional plank for individuals with wrist, shoulder, or elbow sensitivities. One such movement is the roll-in, which focuses on controlled spinal movement and deep abdominal activation without placing weight on the upper body.
Alternatively, balance boards can be used to increase the difficulty of standard exercises by introducing instability. Effective balance board movements include plank challenges, squat stability exercises, single-leg stands, and push-up variations, all of which require the core to engage more intensely to maintain posture and coordination.
