Corendon Airlines reduces UK routes and faces cost pressures

Corendon Airlines is implementing significant changes to its flight schedules due to operational challenges and rising costs. The Turkish carrier has announced a major reduction in its UK market presence for the summer 2027 season, completely suspending operations at Birmingham, Newcastle, and London Gatwick. Remaining connections to Antalya will be limited to weekly flights from Glasgow, Manchester, and London Stansted.

The airline cites geopolitical uncertainties in the Middle East, fluctuating demand, and increased costs for fuel and airport locations as primary drivers for these cuts. As part of a restructuring effort, Corendon is also terminating several aircraft leasing contracts to reduce its active fleet size.

In Germany, the airline is launching a new route from Düsseldorf to Curaçao in mid-December. However, the long-term viability of this service is uncertain; sales chief Paul Schwaiger noted that the continuation of the route beyond April 2027 will depend on an evaluation of market conditions and significantly higher kerosene prices, which have risen from historical levels of $750–$800 per ton to over $1,500 per ton.
