Corendon Airlines supports archaeological research in Fethiye

Corendon Airlines, with support from Royal Avis, is sponsoring the Telebehi Archaeological Surface Survey in Fethiye, Muğla. The research aims to uncover and preserve the ancient history of the Telebehi/Telmessos settlement.

Led by Assistant Professor Irem Albayraktaroglu Goktas under permission from the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism, a multidisciplinary team of local and foreign experts is investigating the site. The study focuses on the Hıdırlık Hill–Karapınar area, examining traces from the Archaic, Classical, Hellenistic, Roman, Byzantine, and Ottoman periods.

The research seeks to understand the early urbanization process of Lycia and the settlement patterns in the Xanthos Valley. Findings include documentation of settlement traces, walls, rock tombs, tumuli, and various archaeological artifacts. The project, which continues the Telmessos Surface Surveys started in 2021, will focus on the Hıdırlık Hill and Karapınar Necropolis through 2026.
