Corfo announces financial relief for Chilean companies hit by storms

Corfo (Corporación de Fomento de la Producción) has announced extraordinary financial relief for companies affected by recent storms in Chile. The initiative includes a temporary reduction in commission rates for coverage programs, specifically setting a 0.4% commission for new financial operations and 0% for the reprogramming of existing credits. This measure applies to the FOGAIN, Pro-Inversión, and COBEX programs for applications submitted between August 10 and October 31, 2026.

Beneficiaries include companies in areas with declared agricultural emergencies, such as the entire Coquimbo Region, six communes in the Atacama Region (Tierra Amarilla, Copiapó, Alto del Carmen, Vallenar, Freirina, and Huasco), and the continental provinces of Valparaíso. In other catastrophe zones, companies must provide accreditation of damage through a financial intermediary.

In the Coquimbo Region, the agricultural sector is facing significant challenges. The Control Pisquero Agricultural Cooperative has reported that 117 producers are priority cases, with approximately 196 hectares of pisco grapes affected due to damage to irrigation systems and infrastructure. Regional authorities are working with various agencies to evaluate financing alternatives to prevent long-term productivity losses.
