Corgan expands Northeast footprint with WCGS acquisition and revamps Empire State Building office
Architecture firm Corgan announced the acquisition of Albany‑based WCGS Architects, adding a respected practice to its portfolio and strengthening its presence across the Northeastern United States. The deal broadens Corgan’s capabilities in mission‑critical, higher‑education and other sectors, giving the combined firm access to a larger client base in New York, the broader East Coast, Canada and the Caribbean. CEO Scott Ruch said the integration will enhance technical resources and support future growth.
Separately, Corgan completed a major renovation of its own office on the 54th floor of the Empire State Building. The space was expanded from 18,714 to 26,035 square feet, modernising the layout while preserving Art Deco elements such as original terrazzo flooring and elevator doors. The redesign now accommodates up to 162 staff, adds communal amenities, a café, a 3D‑printing shop and a media room, reflecting the firm’s commitment to a contemporary workplace.
