Coriano to honor Marco Simoncelli on 15th anniversary of death

The town of Coriano will hold a commemoration on Friday, October 23, to honor motorcycle racer Marco Simoncelli on the 15th anniversary of his death. The event will take place at 7:00 PM at ‘Il Podio’ on via Garibaldi.

Mayor Gianluca Ugolini and the municipal administration will participate by laying a floral tribute in memory of the rider, who passed away during the Malaysian Grand Prix on October 23, 2011. The ceremony serves to remember both his sporting achievements and his personal character. Mayor Ugolini noted that while Simoncelli’s talent gained him international fame, his humanity and connection to his roots keep him central to the identity of Coriano.
