Corigliano-Rossano hosts major Taekwondo and maritime sports events

Corigliano-Rossano is hosting two major sporting events aimed at promoting the region and boosting tourism.

From September 18 to 20, the PalaBrillia will host the European Taekwondo ITF UNION Open Championship 2026. The competition features approximately 600 elite athletes from 16 nations, including Italy, Spain, Wales, Scotland, England, and Mexico. The tournament includes Tul (technical forms) and Sparring disciplines, with an expected total attendance of over 1,500 people.

Additionally, the “Mare in Movimento” event, promoted by the Italian Motonautics Federation and supported by the Ministry of Sport, is scheduled for September 23 to 27. Presented by Senator Ernesto Rapani, the initiative seeks to use maritime sports to destagionalize tourism in the area, leveraging the city's 35-kilometer coastline and commercial port to attract visitors outside the summer months.
